xiviii created a new topic ' Best growing medium?' in the forum.Hey all Just wondered what the growing medium of choice was for you guys? This is my first year and so far I've been using the Levingtons multi purpose compost - so I 'think' mine are doing ok but I have nothing to really compare it with. Thanks!

xiviii created a new topic ' Bacterial spots?' in the forum.Hi all, first post on the forum! I got a growing kit from here at the start of the year, had almost 100% germination rate so was very happy.. On a few of my chillis though I'm starting to see brown spots, I've looked into it but mine looks slightly different from the pictures I've seen of the bacterial spots. Any chance of some opinions on if it is / what it could be? This plant so far has put out several flowers which I have pollinated - they have since turned brown and fallen off but the chillis have not seemed to have grown at all. One of my others is doing better and has 5/6 chillis that are growing nicely. Thanks for the help in advance.

en3rmax created a new topic ' Growing Chillies for 2013' in the forum.Hi there, I’m Kev I live in the UK and thought I’d post a few pictures of my growing area and some of my peppers I’m growing this year. I had loads of chillies that I grew last year in my greenhouse but in the past few weeks I’ve brought a 3m polytunnel and have set it up at the end of the greenhouse. I’ve put down Mypex flooring and made some staging with some hollow concrete blocks and timber. I also grow quite a few other things too like tomatoes, cucumbers, melons. I still have loads more chillies to put in the polytunnel yet I’ll post more pics soon. The chillies I’m growing are Bhut Jolokia Trinidad Moruga Scorpion 7 Pot Chocolate Doughlah Habanero Tepin Big Jim Cayenne Long Slim Demon Red Capino Yellow Pepper [image] [image] [image] Here is an updated picture of more chillies I have inside ready to put in the polytunnel........ if we ever get any good weather. Hydrodaze-newquay replied to the topic 'Plant Nutrients' in the forum.Hi, I would suggest to try a hydro feed like ionic hydro and pH correct between 5.8- 6.2. The feed comes in grow and bloom.

JezzerBell replied to the topic 'Plant Nutrients' in the forum.Sounds like you're in a right old pickle! If it were me than I'd abandon the Fish Waste approach ASAP & repot the plant into a good quality compost e.g. Miracle-Gro, etc. Whatever you decide, I hope the plant recovers quickly - an angry wife is not recommended! :)

JezzerBell, djmbristol replied to the topic 'Scotch Bonnett - yellow curled leaves - Help!!' in the forum. Most probably it's down to overwatering (imo). Apache's are Annuums & Bonnet's are Chinenses. Compared to Annuums, Chinense types grow slower & are more susceptible to subtle variances in their environment. Try watering less often when it's cool &/or wet - remember chillies don't like wet feet! ;) Good luck with your grow! :)

Xommul created a new topic ' Scotch Bonnett - yellow curled leaves - Help!!' in the forum.I have just started growing chillies, I bought some scotch bonnet plants from the local garden centre along with some apache chillies. The apaches are lush and green but the bonnets are yellow and the leaves are curling. Both plants are in a greenhouse on my allotment. Am I over watering? Are they sick? I used potting compost with perlite, no plant food yet tho!

JezzerBell replied to the topic 'Hello, from nearby in Devon' in the forum.Welcome Wortle, Both Apache & Ring of Fire Cayenne's are really straight-forward to grow in the UK. Quick growing, good yields, tasty & fairly hot pods (50k+ SHU) make them a really great choice to start your 1st grow. Good luck! ;)
