JUNE 2005 - CHILLI FARM EXPANDS
Over the winter we have purchased 10 acres of land near the village of Loddiswell a few miles away from our current location in South Milton. This summer most of our growing will still take place at our existing site at South Milton, but gradually all of our activities will be moved to our new farm. The extra space will allow us to plant hedgerows and orchards to provide us with such fruits as elderberries, hawthorn berries, crab apples and wild garlic. Those people who have visited our farmers market stalls will no doubt have tasted some of our autumn specialities such as Elderberry Chilli Jelly and Crab Apple Jelly. Hopefully in a year or two we will be able to harvest enough to keep these sought after products going all year round.
Moving to our new site will also enable us to receive visitors from the end of July / early August, something which we have been unable to do up until now due to parking problems and access restrictions.
Organic status - Formal organic status is something we have always wanted to go for, but up until now we have been unable to do so due to the short nature of our lease. Now we have a permanent home we can go ahead with organic conversion.
