They're not actually my tortoises, my housemate bought them.

About the stolen pet - it's a real shame when you hear of things like that happening. What do folk get out of doing something like that?

Beyond me Cobra. I guess some people just don't grow out of the selfish, "I want it so I'm entitled to it" phase so take just for the sake of taking.

Stealing pets is one of the lowest of the low, but the reason its done is because there is sheer profit, they can sell tortoises anywhere from a few hundred to ten thousand pounds depending on breed. That being said I'd still like to smash their heads in for upsetting a very old man.

My nan had four of them, they kept escaping, but she lived on a farm so it was quite a task locating them sometimes.

Tortoises are escape artists!

I have a video of one of ours scaling the wall of her enclosure. She had worked out the exact moves she needed in order to climb a vertical wall as tall as her shell is upright. Incredible.

After finding out how she was getting out, I got busy with the perspex and made the walls higher. It's now nicknamed "Guantortimo Bay" by my housemate.

Personally I think they are a highly intelligent (yey I spelt that right) animal, with a good memory. It could also be people think such a slow creature can never get far.... tell that to a woman who's Tortoise escaped and hopped on her local bus, haha

After a month or so of being very sluggish my Goliath has molted and doing well.
And has she gotten big, .

Her last couple of molts have seen her grow about a cm at a time. This one she must be at least a couple of ins bigger, she's a fking monster, . 8in at least, obviously that's a guesstimate, no way I'm going in for a closer look, ;) .
