Hi, started in February from seed in heated propagator, Twilight, Ring of Fire and Red Habanero. Transferred to greenhouse since mid April. Twilight and Ring of Fire doing fine , but the Habanero's, which look very healthy, seem to be struggling to fruit. Just in the last week noticed a couple of fruits on 3 of the 4 plants - is this normal to be this late?
All my 11 plants have masses of flowers (over 30-50 per plant) but many many have fallen, why? Could it be temperature or germination? Have had difficulty keeping temp in greenhouse below 30C, should i be leaving them outside 24hrs?
All have been adequately lightly watered and Focus fed weekly. Are growing in pure Coir compost and 6" pots.
Any comments please, would like to hear of others experiences.
KSS
PS First time grower and pleased with results!

hi.
in past experiences of growing habs they dont really like it when it gets to hot. i find when the temps get above the 32 mark they just want to shut down. ive also had the same problems in the past as you with lots of flowers but no fruit sets. the plant is stressed and by the sounds of it it not producing any pollen, hence no fruit
i tend to leave mine out all thru the summer months but this year has been abit on the cool side in the evenings, so ive been bringing a few of them in. the ones left outside have been very slow. it also sounds like your pots are to small. 6 inch, to me arnt big enough try double the size. im no expert and everyone will give there own reasons but all i can do is tell you my experiences.
good luck

Habaneros can be fussy - they like if warmer than most as seedlings, but them the large leaves can cause problems when it gets too hot - over 40c will cause flowers to abort. If you can add some ventilation, that should help - I have one of these things which open the window when things get hot - useful to have one on a low window too to get a flow form bottom to top.
