I bought chillis from you last year and I notice that the compost is very gritty. What do you add to the compost to make this is it just builders sand or lawn sand please advise

It is probably perlite pal.

This is often added to compost to improve drainage, which is important for chillies as they hate to have their roots standing in water. You can buy it from a garden centre and mix it with compost yourself.

you can add various things, pearlite, vermicilulite, horticultural sand, grit ( all available from various garden centers.) if you have bought any seed sowing compost you will find its very fine with sand sized particles in it. easy for emerging seeds to push through.
