Hey all,

Thanks for everyone's previous advice, I've now successfully germinated and potted on 10 Hot Chocolate Habaneros seeds!

After having no luck with my first attempt at growing from seed with the Habanero and Twilight (I put this down to the very cold winter in the UK) I'm now reaping the rewards of a sunny south of England and am hopeful that the 10 I've potted on will really start to take off in the next few weeks/months.

I'm also starting to germinate some more Twilights and Hungarian Wax as I think they should survive being kept on the window sill now the weather has started to turn.

Here are some photos of my progress so far. To the beginners like me who failed at the first and second attempt - try try again!

These plants look very nice! Bigger than anything we have in the greenhouse at the moment. From the photos I can see they are getting a good amount of light, which will help a lot.

One tip that came to mind for the future - we tend to pot-on in stages, so from pricking-out to 3", to 6" to 9". The reasons for this is that it is less likely to be a problem if we over-water a plant (which can be a problem when you're watering hundreds of seedlings), and because it is easier to warm up the soil around the roots. It may be worth trying this with a few plants to see if it works for you.

Cheers, Steve
SDCF.

Thanks for the advice Steve. I realised once I had planted them in the 2 litre pots that they might be a little big! Will this affect the way they grow?

I'll take your advice on board when my Twilight and Hungarian Wax are ready and pot-on into something a little smaller

Ok, its been 2 weeks since my last update and I've started to notice my habaneros are starting to fill out a little bit which is great news. The other varieties aren't coming along as great as I'd hoped though Now the weather has picked up, I'm hoping they get a bit of growth in the next few days though.

For some photos, see attached: picasaweb.google.co.uk/11532129448121280...ants?feat=directlink

As you will see, I have planted 2 of the twilight seedlings in the same pot. Was this a wise move?! I wanted a larger, bushier plant and thought this would do the trick. I intend to pot on to something bigger once mature enough.

Cheers,

Wes
