Noticed last night that 3 of my serrano's have developed purpleing on the main stem.

Am I right in thinking low temps?

I have them under a grow light through the nights (cheaper, lol), with a fan to stop heat build up and circulate fresh air, but think they may be getting chilled.

I've moved them around to see if it helps.

Paul.

I would have said normal, just maturing. I will look at mine tomorrow and see what it`s stem looks like. My strongest plant at the min is Serano which wasn`t the plan but the good old ROF isn`t far behind.

Isn't this a sign of the stems thickening up and getting stronger... ?

See it a lot and never worry myself personally

It's happened to my plants in the past too with no ill effects, and one or two of this year's crop are starting to show some purple colouration on the stems so I'd agree with Stuie and Colin in that it appears to be perfectly normal.

The purpleing stops a the base of the leaf stem, so I think you're right.

Thanks for the reasurence guys, I'm such a noob when it comes to chillies, lol.
Every little change and I'm thinking, OH MY GOD, I'VE JUST KILLED ALL MY PLANTS,  .

Paul.

Thanks Tross, appretiate the added voice of reasurence, every one helps, lol.

Some chilli plants just do that.

Nothing to worry about.
