Hello Chilli Growing Buddies!

As like most posts on the forums, I'm new to this chilli growing craze.

Right, this isn't too much of a problem but, one of my chilli plants is growing really strangely. It's leaves are twisted and by that i mean it's growing upside down despite my best efforts to reposition them and rotating the plant every 3 hours or so the maintain a straight growing plant... ok it's only two of them but has anybody else had this problem?

Also, green aphid looking things . Does anybody have this problem? I picked off the leaves they colonised on, was that a smart move?

Finally, the heat in Brighton is absolutely sweltering , would it be a good idea to put the plants outside... it does get pretty windy though and i can't afford a pop-up greenhouse.

BTW i'm growing Santa Fe chillies.

thanks in advance

Aphids! They can be a really pain. Easiest thing is to take the plant outside, tilt it over and 'tickle' the adults aphids off - they tend to jump. You will need to squish the samll ones - gently so as not to damage the leaves. Check the plants every day.

The plants should be fine indoors, although with this weather, they would be OK outdoors. If you put them outdoors, watch for slugs and snails - although they seem to be thin on the ground this year.

Good luck.
Steve.

Thanks Steve! We've got a patio so the slugs and snails shouldn't be a problem.

As for the twisted leaves, I forgot to put a photo on yesterday.

Could it be they're getting too much water and are trying to transpire?

The plant looks in good health to me. The leaf turning is a common featurewith chillies, so nothing to worry about.

Regards, Steve.
