TOPIC: Scotch Bonnet Peppers

Scotch Bonnet Peppers 1 year, 6 months ago #537

Hi

I have a lot of plants on the go at the moment and most of them seem to be doing fine but I have a problem with my scotch bonnet plants.

The grow buds and do flower but then they drop off. Any idea's how I actually get them growing? I am very new to all this so could be doing all sorts wrong. I do feed them once a week and have recently had to bring them in due to the wet weather up north!

Thanks

Hi! I've had a similar problem with my Apache plant. I've found that cutting watering to small amounts 2-3 times a week and feeding weekly helped with flower drop. I also found that if I used a small, damp paintbrush to pollenate each flower, then when the petals brown off after a few days, I remove them from the stem and allow the chilli to develop. Not sure that's what your supposed to do but it worked for my flower drop. The ones I left to nature ended up in the bottom of the pot, even the ones I pollenated myself.

Wish you the best of luck!

scotch bonnets, like most c.chinense chilli plants, are susceptible to flower-drop.this is normal, & the next lot of buds should set ok.only water when the compost's slightly dry & only feed when in flower, unless you're using chilli focus, which is a dedicated chilli food.

Thank you both very much.. I'll give it all a try.

I think I may of been over watering but I have been using Chilli Focus.
