I have never grown anything before outside of watercress when I was in primary school but am interested in starting to grow chilles.

What advice would you give?
Can I start growing them now for next year? What are the best, easiest chilly seeds to grow and when could I hope to see results?

Please offer any help you can. I am an absolute beginner!

Thanks.

no-not unless you have lights, heat etc.
if you were to start seedlings off in soil they'd only get so far at best.as temps are starting to fall, it's doubtful if you'd get strong seedlings, & with the frosts approaching, they'd have no chance of survival.
so much too late to start now...

i have planted seeds towards the end of the summer months in the uk, they grow to about 3 to 4 inchs high then stop thru the winter months, as long as they are kept in a warm , sunny room they will live, then come the spring they take off and you have a head start

I planted seeds in a heated propogator, for the first time, the first one has germinated overnite, day 6 and is 1cm high. now to get my cfl light out. planted on 10 jan 2011, I just could'nt wait.

good luck. i have around 20 plants on the go at the moment, mostly habaneros and the odd dorset naga for good measure, and all are doing fine. everyone will have there own opinions and tell you how you should and how you shouldnt do things, just do what you think is right and enjoy it. early bird catches the worm, get planting now:woohoo:

thanks for the good wished colinjarr.

ive some pics now to add, now that I rushed and set up my blue CFL light so I can grow the seedlings on and avoid leggy seedlings!

one pic shows the seedlings under light, as i'm early

the other pic shows a furry white growth on the soil, is this too damp in the heated propogator??
