Scotch Bonnet Chilli Seeds

Grow your own Scotch Bonnet chillies from seed, one of the Caribbean’s most popular and much-loved chillies. Closely related to the Habanero, Scotch Bonnet has a rich, fruity flavour and serious heat, making it a favourite for Caribbean hot sauces, stews, soups and broths.

The name Scotch Bonnet comes from the fruit’s resemblance to a traditional Tam o’shanter hat. The chillies can vary considerably in shape and size, even on the same plant, due to years of cross-breeding and natural hybridisation. What matters is the characteristic fruity flavour and heat that make a good Scotch Bonnet so popular.

Scotch Bonnet is often confused with milder varieties such as Bishop’s Crown, but they are very different chillies. Scotch Bonnet is Capsicum chinense and has a heat level much closer to Jamaican Mushroom than Bishop’s Crown.
